We Moved! 158 Blake St. North Twin Falls, Idaho 83301

Your body matters. YOU matter.

That is why, at our center, we want you to know all the facts about an at-home abortion. We care about keeping you safe, even through the struggles of an unexpected pregnancy.

In Idaho, abortion is illegal. So you will not be able to get a prescription for the abortion pill unless you travel to a state where a doctor can legally prescribe it to you.

Technically, you can order the pill from an illegal, third party source. But the FDA highly discourages it because those pills are not subject to regulations and may be expired or contaminated.

How Does the Abortion Pill Work?

Progesterone is a hormone that your body produces when you are pregnant to thicken the uterine wall. This hormone is like a vehicle that delivers nutrients to your womb that help the pregnancy to grow and survive.

The first part of the abortion pill, Mifepristone, blocks progesterone. Once the vehicle can no longer deliver nutrients, the pregnancy is starved until it is terminated.

The second part of the abortion pill, Misoprostol, triggers cramps that will propel your body to essentially “give birth” to the remains of everything in your uterus.

This can be messy and bloody, and cause nausea or severe abdominal pain. It can take several days for your body to fully expel the pregnancy.

What Are the Risks of the Abortion Pill?

Like all medications the abortion pill carries risks. You should not take the pill if you use an IUD for birth control, if you have ever had an allergic reaction to medication or certain foods, food dyes or animals, or if you take any of these medications.

According to Mayo Clinic, side effects of the pill include:

  • Vaginal bleeding and abdominal cramping
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Sore breasts
  • Fatigue

Women have also reported emotional and mental complications of abortion that include depression, anxiety, and grief.

Where Can I Learn More?

If you are considering the abortion pill, it is critical that you first receive an ultrasound to confirm that you are still less than 10 weeks gestation. An ultrasound will also confirm you do not have an ectopic pregnancy.

At our center we offer no-charge ultrasounds, and can answer any further questions you have about abortion. Please contact us today for a confidential consultation.
